The Australian Girl
Historical War Drama | Proof of Concept
A female Australian journalist sent to Belgium to report the war in 1914 struggles to gain respect from her fellow male correspondents and in an attempt to prove her capabilities lands herself in no mans land where she uncovers a side of the story only she can tell, a woman's experience in the Great War.
Inspired by the life of Australian writer Louise Mack.
THE AUSTRALIAN GIRL is an award-winning screen adaptation of Elise’s full length stage play of the same name which was originally developed at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, the National Theatre with support from Sir Nicholas Hytner and The Old Vic Labs before premiering Off-West End at Theatre N16 in London in 2017.
